KVK Booh Conducts Training-cum-Awareness Programme for Input Dealers

July 1

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh (Tarn Taran)  organised a training-cum-awareness programme for input dealers of Tarn Taran district under the ongoing “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” with the objective of strengthening their technical knowledge and promoting the dissemination of scientific recommendations among farmers for the upcoming paddy season.
During the programme, Dr. Navjot Singh,  delivered a lecture on the balanced use of fertilizers in paddy. He emphasised the importance of soil test-based nutrient management, judicious application of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and the role of balanced fertilization in improving crop productivity, reducing cultivation costs, and maintaining long-term soil health.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Prabjeet Singh urged input dealers to serve as responsible partners in agricultural extension by providing farmers with scientifically validated recommendations and ensuring the timely availability of quality agricultural inputs. He emphasized that well-informed input dealers can play an active role in enhancing farm productivity and sustainability, while also helping to curb the indiscriminate use of fertilizers by promoting balanced and need-based nutrient management practices.
In a message, Dr. R. S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education emphasised that the extension system must work closely with farmers and input dealers to ensure the adoption of recommended production technologies.
Dr. J. P. S. Gill, Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of KVK Booh in organising awareness programmes for stakeholders and stated that strengthening the knowledge of input dealers is essential for promoting climate-resilient and economically viable farming practices.
The programme concluded with an interactive session in which participants discussed field-level challenges related to nutrient management and weed control in paddy. Experts from KVK addressed their queries and encouraged them to continue supporting farmers with accurate and research-based technical guidance.
