
The Dialysis and Critical Care Unit, Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal
Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a three-day Hands-on Workshop-cum-Training on Advanced Hemodialysis and Critical Care Procedures in Companion Animals.
The programme was attended by ten participants, including five veterinarians from Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Hisar, and five Veterinary officers from the State Animal
Husbandry Department. The training provided extensive practical exposure to veterinary nephrology cases and advanced hemodialysis techniques in companion animals. Participants also received hands-on training in thoracocentesis, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), live blood gas analysis and interpretation and triage of critically ill patients.
Dr. J. P. S. Gill, Vice Chancellor, lauded the initiative and emphasized that such specialized training programmes are vital for enhancing the professional competencies of veterinarians and promoting advanced standards of veterinary healthcare.
Dr. S.K. Uppal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies informed that the training was conducted under ICAR Experiential Learning Projects on Dialysis and Critical Care. He also graced the valedictory function and appreciated the participants for their enthusiastic involvement throughout the programme. 
Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean, College of Veterinary Science highlighted that exposure to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities is essential for equipping veterinarians to effectively manage complex and critical clinical cases.
Dr. J. Mohindroo, Director of Clinics remarked that the workshop aimed to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and clinical practice by imparting practical skills in advanced nephrology and critical care procedures.
The expert lectures and practical demonstrations were delivered by Dr. J. Mohindroo, Dr. Raj Sukhbir Singh, Dr. Randhir Singh, Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Dr. Jasnit Singh, providing participants with valuable insights into contemporary approaches to the management of renal and critically ill companion animals.
The workshop received valuable support from Sinder K Pvt. Ltd., which also donated medicines to the Teaching Veterinary Hospital for the treatment of needy patients, reflecting its commitment to promoting animal welfare and supporting veterinary healthcare initiatives.
