Training on Value Addition of Milk Concludes at Vet Varsity

The five-day training programme on "Value Addition of Milk", organized by the College of Dairy and Food Science Technology (CDFST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, concluded. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from dairy farmers and entrepreneurs across Punjab.
The training aimed to strengthen farmers' technical skills and promote dairy entrepreneurship through value addition. Participants received hands-on training in the preparation of commercially important dairy products, including paneer, burfi, flavoured milk, lassi, dahi and ghee. University experts demonstrated scientific processing techniques, hygienic production practices and quality assurance measures to ensure the manufacture of safe, high-quality dairy products.
The programme also covered clean milk production, proper handling and storage of raw milk, branding, packaging, labelling, FSSAI registration and licensing, as well as marketing strategies, pricing and customer outreach to help participants establish sustainable dairy enterprises.
Dr. J. P. S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor stated that skill-oriented training in dairy processing, quality assurance and entrepreneurship is crucial for improving the profitability and sustainability of dairy farming. He encouraged participants to adopt modern technologies and contribute to the growth of Punjab's dairy sector. 
Addressing the valedictory session, Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Dean, CDFST, emphasized that value addition is essential for enhancing dairy farmers' income by converting raw milk into diversified, high-value products while reducing post-production losses. 
Dr. R. S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education, highlighted the University’s  commitment to empowering farmers through need-based training and promoting scientific dairy technologies, food safety and regulatory compliance.
Participants appreciated the practical, hands-on nature of the programme and expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would help them diversify their dairy enterprises, produce quality value-added dairy products and generate additional income.
