College of Dairy and Food Science Technology Organizes Tree Plantation Drive

July 25

As part of the ongoing plantation campaign of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana to enhance the green cover of the campus, the College of Dairy and Food Science Technology organized a tree plantation drive. The initiative aimed to strengthen the University's commitment to environmental conservation by promoting a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus.
The plantation drive was formally inaugurated by Dr. S. P. S. Ghuman, Dean, of College in the presence of faculty members, postgraduate students, and staff. On the occasion, all faculty members and postgraduate students planted a tree, reaffirming their collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
As part of the campaign, flowering shrubs and ornamental plants were planted in the front lawns and along the approach road of the college to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus. Species, including Bottlebrush (Callistemon), Tecoma, and Hibiscus were planted during this phase of the drive.
The plantation programme forms a part of the University's larger initiative to plant 500 tree saplings, supplied by the District Forest Office, Ludhiana, across the college campus. The drive not only contributes to increasing the green cover but also supports biodiversity, improves the campus environment, and promotes ecological awareness among students and staff.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the College and the Estate Wing for successfully coordinating the plantation drive and encouraged continued initiatives towards making the campus greener, healthier, and environmentally sustainable.
