The College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, a constituent college of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a two-week long training program 
on Dairy Farming. A total of 21 participants took part in the programme, representing various districts of Punjab. Dr Sandeep Kaswan coordinated the training along with Dr Insha Mir and Dr Shwetambri Jamwal. Technical support 
was provided by Dr Yashwant Singh and Dr Shaktikant Dash. Training programme consisted of interactive sessions including lectures, practical demonstrations,
hands-on activities on various aspects of dairy farming covering breeds of cattle and buffalo, breeding methods, housing systems, balanced feeding, routine farm operations, healthcare, biosecurity measures, milk processing and value addition, effective marketing, integration etc.
This training program also included lectures from the officials of Bank, Krishi Vikas Kendra, Barnala, Dairy Department etc., highlighting different services available for the benefit of dairy farmers.Trainees were also motivated by the personal and practical experiences of a successful da
iry farmer Mr Amrik Singh from Dhapali village. Trainees were given practical demonstrations at Sahiwal cattle farm of Regional Research Training Centre, Kaljharani, Bathinda and Bulk milk 
chilling station at Phul.
Dr. Kuldip Gupta, Dean of the College, encouraged the trainees to remain connected with the staff of college and utilize the skills and knowledge gained during the training to become successful dairy entrepreneurs.
Dr. R. S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education, appreciated the efforts of the college staff for extending skills and knowledge about dairy farming on scientific lines to the farmers and rural youth.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill Vice-Chancellor emphasized on the need of such skill development training programs in generating sustainable income and fostering self-employment among the youth and women in rural and peri-urban areas.
