Vet Varsity Organises Group Demonstration on the “Pradhan Mantri Matsy Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana

As partner of the National Consortium of Verification and Monitoring Consultants (V&MC) under “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY)", College of Fisheries (COF), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organised an Group Demonstration Programme for fisheries officials of Dept of Fisheries, Punjab and other beneficiaries, including fish farmers; traders; vendors; and entrepreneurs. It was arranged in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Government of India (GOI) and PM-MKSSY National Co-ordinator from Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University.
PM-MKSSY is a unique initiative, formalizing the fisheries sector, improving access to institutional support and promoting sustainable growth, innovation and value-chain development. As part of National Consortium of 28 Fisheries Universities/Colleges, COF is extending Verification, Monitoring and Knowledge Support Services to eligible fisheries stakeholders of the State to avail various grants and incentives under PM-MKSSY.
Dr. Vaneet Inder Kaur, V&MC Nodal Officer, Punjab coordinated the Demonstration Session in a hybrid mode. Stakeholders from 12 districts were introduced to major components of PM-MKSSY, including National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) for Credit Facilitation; Strengthening of Fisheries Cooperatives; Aquaculture Insurance Incentives; Performance Grants; and Capacity Building and Training. They were encouraged to invest in business improvement; create and maintain employment; improve efficiency; adopt better quality and safety practices; and strengthen the fisheries value chain, to avail financial assistance under the performance grant.
Participating fisheries officials were also urged to guide eligible fisheries and aquaculture farmers/enterprises, including micro and small enterprises; women and SC/STowned enterprises; Self Help Groups ; Fish Farmer Producer Organisations ; Fisheries Cooperatives etc., and mobilise maximum number of stakeholders to avail financial assistance under performance grant for their significant contribution to fisheries sector value chain.
Fisheries officials from DOF, GoI demonstrated details of NFDP Registration Process and filling of Preliminary Grant Application for performance grant. Queries of the stakeholders were addressed and on spot NFDP registration of non-registered stakeholders was facilitated by the team.
