Vet. Varsity Professor acted as Resource personal at Sri Lanka

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Professor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana acted as a resource person for the International workshop “Neglected Tropical Diseases: Molecular diagnosis, comparative genomics and phylogenetics” at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. The workshop was organised by the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science under the aegis of International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) .
She acted as international resource person along with Prof Malcom Jones from The University of Queensland, Australia, Prof. Udeni B. R. Balasuriya from Louisiana State University, US, Dr Hans-Peter Fuehrer from University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria. She contributed to the scientific programme by conducting both theoretical and practical sessions on the “Tetra-primer ARMS PCR technique for capturing mutations”. Around 70 participants attended the workshop from different countries including Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. All the participants as well as the organizers were highly appreciative by the lecture and practical demonstration by the Vet Varsity faculty. The workshop led to scientific discussions on advances in molecular diagnosis, diagnostic motifs, phylogenetic and evolutionary analysis and hands-on training activities and provided an excellent opportunity to foster future research collaborations.
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor looking into the importance of the neglected tropical diseases and their zoonotic importance congratulated Dr. Gurpreet Kaur along with other international scientists that could further lead to future collaboration between both the universities.
Dr Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean College of Veterinary Science congratulated Dr. Kaur for recognition at the international platform.
