
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Booh, Tarn Taran, organised a comprehensive Animal Welfare and Treatment Camp at adopted Village Kirtowal Khurd, Distt Tarn Taran to provide quality veterinary healthcare and scientific guidance to livestock farmers at their doorstep. The cam

ance with the vision of Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice- Chancellor to strengthen farmer outreach and ensure that the benefits of veterinary expertise and university technologies reach livestock owners in rural areas. Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director Extension Education and Chief Guest, addressed the farmers and highlighted the importance of timely veterinary care, preventive healthcare, balanced nutrition and scientific livestock management. He encouraged farmers to adopt recommended animal husbandry practices for improving animal health, productivity and farm profitability.

A major attraction of the programme was a comprehensive lecture by Dr. R.K. Sharma, Professor, VAHEE, who sensitised farmers about traditional ethno-veterinary practices. He discussed the importance of tr
aditional knowledge in livestock healthcare, its appropriate use and the need to integrate useful indigenous practices with modern scientific veterinary medicine.
Experts from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and Department of Veterinary Medicine also interacted with farmers and provided expert guidance on animal reproductive health, infertility, pregnancy-related problems, disease management, diagnosis and preventive healthc
are. During the camp, animals were examined and treated by veterinary experts, while essential medicines were distributed completely free of cost. The initiative provided farmers with direct access to professional veterinary services and practical solutions to various livestock health problems.
Around 150 farmers participated in the camp and benefited from the expert consultations, treatment and technical guidance. Farmers appreciated the university's initiative of providing veterinary services and medicines free of cost in their village and expressed their gratitude to the organising team.
The programme was coordinated by KVK scientists Dr. Navjot Singh Brar, Dr. Prabhjinder Singh Maan, Dr. Sahil and Dr. Palpreet Singh, who facilitated the interaction between farmers and veterinary experts and ensured the smooth conduct of the camp.
