
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, and Pure Health Food and Nutrition (PHFN), Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for technical consultancy in the formulation and quality assessment of dog feed under its CANIDAY brand.
Dr. JPS Gill, Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the collaboration and stated, This MoU is a significant step towards strengthening university–industry partnership and translating scientific expertise into practical solutions for the growing pet food sector. Such collaborations will promote innovation, quality assurance and technology transfer in animal nutrition
Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Director of Research, Vet Varsity, signed the MoU on behalf of the University, while Mr. Sumit Kedia represented Pure Health Food and Nutrition. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Opinder Singh, Dr. R. S. Grewal, Dr. SPS Ghuman, Dr NK Singh, and other officers of the University. The five-year consultancy collaboration has a financial value of approximately 18.3 lakh.
Dr. J. S. Hundal, Head, Department of Animal Nutrition, said, This collaboration will enable the application of scientific expertise in feed formulation and nutritional quality assessment to develop balanced, nutritious and economical diets for puppies and adult dogs, while strengthening the interface between research and the pet food industry. Under the agreement, Vet Varsity will provide feed formulations for different categories of dogs, evaluate feed ingredients and finished products through its laboratory facilities, and provide technical guidance to PHFN, including visits to its manufacturing facility. The MoU will strengthen university–industry linkages and facilitate the translation of animal nutrition expertise into scientifically formulated, nutritionally appropriate and quality pet food products.
