Fisheries Entrepreneurship Development Program attracts Fisheries Professionals and Enthusiasts at Vet Varsity

National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) - Fisheries Innovation and Startup Hub (FISHub), Hyderabad organized Fisheries Entrepreneurship Development (FED) Program “Aqua Yuva” in collaboration with College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to apprise Budding Fisheries Professionals and young Fisheries Enthusiasts of assorted entrepreneurial opportunities available in the inland fisheries sector. Addressing the group of 50 beneficiaries, Dr. Saravanan Raj, Director (Agricultural Extension), MANAGE and CEO MANAGE-FISHub, informed about the objectives of “Aqua Yuva” FED program and its role in promoting entrepreneurship among youth. He also apprised the participants about the other FISHub programs designed for developing real-time networking and collaborations for transforming innovative start-up and entrepreneurial ideas into successful business models.
Besides learning about vibrant entrepreneurial options within the “Farm to Fork” fisheries value chain, the participants also had unique group learning activities for developing opportunity, need, technology, geographical, social, women and rural based entrepreneurial proposals. They also participated in assessment tasks to evaluate existing demand-supply chains, key gaps and prospective growth to understand the potential areas for entrepreneurship development in the fish value chain. Novel marketing ideas emerged from the group activity on product branding, smart packaging and novel promotional models. Expert talks on entrepreneurial mindset development; Inland fisheries resources and future scope of development; Business Model Canvas and Business Plan Preparation, instilled the young minds with the spark of confidence to self-reliance.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Dr. R.S. Grewal, Director Extension Education impressed that more and more youth shall come forward to entrepreneurial self-reliance, create jobs and contribute to socio-economic development of the state and the nation. Highlighting that future belongs to entrepreneurship and novel startups. He guided the participants to develop a strong multidimensional network out of the box to establish modern fisheries-based or infused enterprises.
