Fisheries Professionals and Enthusiasts Acquired Entrepreneurial Tips at Vet Varsity

National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE)- Fisheries Innovation and Startup Hub (FISHub), Hyderabad organized Fisheries Entrepreneurship Development Program “Aqua UDHYAMI” in collaboration with College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to acquaint aspiring youth with practical knowledge, empirical experiences and challenges for establishing fisheries enterprises. Over 50 young minds interacted with technical experts and successful entrepreneurs to gain real-world insights into enterprise planning, budgeting, production, processing/value addition, market skills and business networking.Three progressive aquaculture entrepreneurs shared their entrepreneurial path to triumph, involving different phases from learning, planning, funding, implementation and production to marketing. Motivational interesting chronicles of all the guest entrepreneurs sparked the budding professionals with an urge to self-reliance with a difference.Young Aquapreneur Ms. Ahneer Kaur from Jalandhar district, shared her exciting entrepreneurial story nurtured by her retired father, leading to establishment of an aquafarm with a home stay to promote the concept of Aqua-tourism in the state. She developed an unconventional opportunity for nature lovers searching for peaceful vacation destinations in the lap of nature. Veteran progressive aquapreneur Sh. Jasvir Singh from district Ludhiana recounted his journey from a fish farmer to a multi-dimensional fisheries producer and trader, dealing in fish production, fingerling production, marketing and value addition. He also shared his future expansion plans with fish seed production and aqua-tourism
An innovative progressive fish farmer Sh. Navjot Pal Singh from District Ferozepur, unfolded his entrepreneurial fish production and marketing saga with emphasis on importance of diligence, capacity building, scientific production, marketing analysis, smart marking and dedication in achieving success. The guest entrepreneurs satisfied the inquisitive queries of the young enthusiasts with their enlightening experiences, in special reference to solutions for overcoming the entrepreneurial challenges.The participants were also apprised of different promotional schemes offering financial assistance for promoting assorted entrepreneurial activities within the fish value chain.They were advised to register on the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) to avail these schemes.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Dr. Jaspal Singh Hundal, Director Students’ Welfare guided the students to make consistent efforts for transforming the available opportunities and resources into innovative business ideas beyond conventional practices, with the help of a cocktail consisting of skills, zeal, hard work, perseverance and honesty.
