Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organized the concluding function of Deeksharambh 2026. It was a Student Induction Programme for newly admitted undergraduate students of the College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, College of Fisheries and College of Animal Biotechnology.
The programme was organized to familiarize newly admitted students with the academic environment, examination system, university rules and regulations, and opportunities available for their overall development. During the induction programme, students participated in the interactive sessions on the academic and examination system, un
iversity rules and regulations, student welfare, NSS activities, mental health, anti-ragging awareness and career opportunities. They were also familiarized with different departments and facilities of the University through visits to laboratories, the Experimental Dairy Plant, PAU, sports and recreational facilities, hospital and library services.
Dr. J. P. S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor addressed the gathering and interacted with the students. He emphasized the importance of discipline, continuous learning, professional competence and active participation in university life.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. S. P. S. Ghuman, Dean, CoDFST. Dr. Opinder Singh, Registrar delivered a session on the rules and regulations of the examination system. Dr. J. S. Hundal, Director Students’ Welfare, spoke on the holistic development of students beyond classrooms.
Dr. Nirbhay Kumar Singh, Comptroller, addressed the students on their rights and respon
sibilities in the University. Dr. S. K. Uppal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, highlighted the avenues of higher education available at the University, encouraging students to explore academic and research opportunities during their university journey.
As part of the concluding session, students from each constituent college shared their feedback on the induction programme. During the programme, students were administered Anti-Drug abuse Oath, pledging to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy and responsible life.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Meera D. Ansal, Dean, College of Fisheries.
