The Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, in collaboration with Ambuja Foundation, Bathinda, organized a one-day training programme on “Clean Milk Production and Value Addition of Milk for 56 Dairy Women Entrepreneurs”
The programme was aimed at strengthening the technical knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and income-generating capabilities of women engaged in dairy farming. The training focused on scientific dairy management, hygi
enic milk production, milk processing, value addition and development of profitable small-scale dairy enterprises.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, emphasized that empowering women dairy entrepreneurs with scientific knowledge, practical skills and entrepreneurial capabilities can help improve the quality of dairy products, enhance household incomes and create sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of the university and Ambuja Foundation.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education, highlighted the importance of adopting scientific animal health practices, maintaining hygiene during milking and promoting value addition of milk. He stated that such hands-on training programmes provide women entrepreneurs with practical knowledge to develop small-scale dairy processing enterprises.
The technical sessions covered pr
eventive animal health management, clean milk production, setting up mini dairy processing units, milk processing and value addition, premium dairy products and profitable business models. Experts including Dr. Jasneet Singh, Dr. Harneet Kour, Dr. Narender Kumar Chandla, Dr. Venus Bansal, Dr. Nikita Goel and Dr. Inderpreet Kaur provided practical and technical guidance on disease prevention, hygienic milk handling, dairy processing, product diversification, marketing and enterprise development. The participants also visited the milk plant of the university and processing chain, gaining hands-on exposure to scientific milk processing and value-added dairy products.
The training was sponsored by Ambuja Foundation, Bathinda and was coordinated by Veerpal Kaur, Project Officer, Ambuja Foundation, Bathinda. Dr. Ravdeep Singh and Dr. Kritika Verma coordinated the programme with the support of Haryuvraj Singh Bedi and Navroj Kaur as student coordinators.
The programme concluded with an interactive session.
