
A two weeks trai
ning programme on “Practical Dairy farming” for veterinary extension workers working in milk producer organizations in different states of the country started at the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. A Total of 20 veterinary extension workers from nine different states are attending this training.This training programme has been jointly organized by the extension department and NDDB Dairy Services (NDS)- a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). ndia by replicating Punjab's proven technologies and management practices in other states.
Dr J.P. S. Gill, Vice -Chancellor while appreciating the efforts of the extension wing of the university and NDS, revealed that Vet Varsity is one of the top most veterinary universities in the country and a reputed name to provide quality education and extension services.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education, highlighted that Punjab farmers are role models for other states in dairy production and high technology adoption. He said that this successful model now needs to be replicated nationwide..jpeg)
Dr Veenu Sodhi, Head, PIB, NDDB Dairy Services acknowledged the support given by Varsity and encouraged them to learn deeply through interaction, queries and sharing experiences.
Dr Navdeep Dham, Chief Executive Officer, Baani Milk Producer Organization revealed the field scenario of other states in comparison to Punjab state which necessitates to equip these extension workers with more practical knowledge. Dr CB Singh, Senior Expert from NDS was also present.
Dr Jaswinder Singh, Head, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education and Course Director highlighted that this training will mainly focus on practical aspects of the dairy farming so that these extension workers become knowledgeable enough to act as change agent and front-line support for the dairy farming community.
Dr Akshita Chadda and Dr Ravdeep Singh will coordinate this training programme for the next two weeks. Dr Rajesh Kasaija, Professor acknowledged all for their support in organizing this training.
