The Academic Council of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) in a recent meeting decided to introduce few major reforms in the process for admission to its various undergraduate programmes. Major focus has been to simplify admission to the undergraduate programmes i.e. Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc., 4-year programme), B. Tech (Biotechnology) 4-year programme and B.Tech (Dairy Technology.) 4-year programme. The requirement of an Entrance Test for admission to these courses has been abolished henceforth. The admissions will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 from any recognized Indian Board. Besides, number of seats in all the programmes have also been increased.
In another major reform, the Academic Council has also revised the eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Tech. (Dairy Tech.) and B.F.Sc. programmes. Now the candidates from Medical as well as from Non-Medical streams will be eligible to get admission in B.F.Sc., B.Tech. (Dairy Tech.) and B.Tech. (Biotech) programmes. With only a single application, a candidate will be eligible to contest for admission in these courses. Special courses will be offered to the students to make up their deficiency, if any. The University has reformed the admission and tuition fee for these courses. Dr. S. Prabhakar, the Registrar informed that GADVASU has been ranked by the ICAR as No.1 State Agricultural University in 2018 and its all constituent institutes/ colleges have been accredited with the ICAR. He asserted that these courses of GADVASU are highly prestigious with high job opportunities. The University has opened seats for these courses to candidates from other states also. Last date to apply to all these courses (offline, Paper Application) is 21 June, 2019.
Dr. Prabhakar, revealed that admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. course will continue to be through an entrance test. The last date to apply online for B.V.Sc. & A.H. course is 23 May, 2019. All of the academic programmes at GADVASU have been well recognized at National Level and students seek queries from whole of the country and even abroad. Non-Resident Indians too prefer to send their wards to GADVASU for education in Veterinary Science course because of training and success which the student achieve to clear the professional examinations in USA and Canada.
