The Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana conducted 3 day workshop on ‘Small animal anesthesia techniques’ for the six Vets of Small 
Animal Clinician’s Association (SACA), Chandigarh. The practical demonstrations and hands on training on various aspects of pre-anesthetic evaluation and pre-anesthesia medication, induction and its maintenance using inhalation anesthesia. Intraoperative monitoring of anesthetized patient, anesthetic emergency and its management, anesthesia of cats and exotic animals was also demonstrated.
Dr. Jitender Mohindroo, Head of the Department of Surgery and Radiology informed that department is continuously conducting such trainings/workshops in different areas of veterinary anesthesia, surgery and radiology for updating the knowledge of small and large animal specialists. Besides it serves the purpose of disseminating recent techniques from lab to land. The department has prepared an E-book of lectures/write up, discussed during the workshop. The Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology has been recognized by Indian Council of Agricultural Research as “Center of Advanced Faculty Training” which is only one throughout the India. The center has several other initiatives to its credit for advancements in the field of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology in India.
Dr. Jasbir Singh, executive member of SACA who also was one of the participant told that such practical oriented workshop is highly useful and an excellent platform of interaction and exchange of latest techniques in anesthesia and surgery. Such initiatives by GADVASU are a great help to a large number of private veterinary practitioners to learn new skills for the larger benefit of the voiceless creatures. Other participants also appreciated the training module and assured to apply the acquired knowledge at their place.
Dr. Parkash Singh, Dean College of Veterinary Science, congratulated the faculty and the participants of SACA and appreciated the mutual efforts for the successful conduct of the workshop. He further said that such trainings would help in greater interaction between institutional faculty and Private Veterinary Practitioners who otherwise remain devoid of refresher trainings.
