Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran organized Kisan Mela on Crop Residue Management at Village Marhana

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran organized Kisan Mela on Crop residue management with the theme of In situ management of paddy straw at Village Marhana, block Chohla Sahib, Tarn Taran.  More than 1000 farmers of different villages, rural youth, farm women, school and college students, etc. participated in the event. Sh Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran graced the occasion by participating as chief guest and requested the farmers for in situ management of paddy straw so that a pollution free environment is created. Padam Shri awardee Baba Sewa Singh from Khadoor Sahib also attended the Kisan Mela and while addressing the farmers said that this is our prime responsibility to save the nature and conserve the natural resources for its sustainable utilization. He also urged the farmers not to burn the paddy straw and save the environment from deteriorationt. SDM Patti, Dr Amit Mahajan and officials from Line departments were also present on the occasion. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) welcomed all the participants and awared farmers regarding different machineries useful for paddy straw management. He also appealed the farmers for not burning crop residue and requested them to incorporate it into the soil. He also said that KVK will aware the farmers regarding in situ management of crop residue in agricultural by conducting front line demonstration on their fields. Various Sarpanchs and panchs of different villages also participated in the Kisan Mela and gave their opinions and problems regarding conservation agricultural strategies. The farmers present in the Mela ensured that they will not burn paddy in their fields and will provide full co-operation to KVK & district administration in campaign regarding crop residue management.  Farmers thronged various stalls in huge number for purchasing the university books, mineral mixture, uromin licks, bypass fat, vermicompost and seed of various crops. At the end vote of thanks was proposed.
