Vet Varsity in full throttle for online teaching of students

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU), attended by all the Officers and Chairmen of Academic Affairs Committees of all the constituent Colleges of university. Authorities of GADVASU, Ludhiana applauded the untiring and selfless efforts of the faculty, supporting staff, security personnels, dairy plant, hospital  and  animal farms staff, workers along with their controlling officers, for the smooth running of the essential services during this difficult time under Vet Varsity viz- Veterinary Hospital, Farm and Plant operations along with continuous supply of Milk and  Eggs. The staff on emergency duty was properly trained to use sanitizer or soap, wash hands in between handling file or after working and do take proper personal hygiene and avoid unnecessary contacts with others.

Dr. H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education informed that academic activities rather teaching cannot be ignored at this time. So it was decided to start Online teaching of all the students of different colleges, Veterinary Science colleges (Ludhiana and Rampura phul), Dairy Science & Technology college, College of Fisheries and College of Animal Biotechnology through Zoom cloud meeting programme. First the trial run was done which was successful and now the regular teaching as per the finalized schedule/Time Table will start from Monday, 6 April 2020. All the lecture schedule and timetable for the next two months have been finalized and informed students through e-mail and whatsapp groups through their class Incharges. During the trial run almost cent percent students participated in online classes including NRI and Other states students. Students and their parents applauded Vet varsity efforts as revealed by Dr AS Nanda, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU. The GADVASU authorities also started Online meetings for discussing ongoing situation as well as other issues related with administration along with farmers’ welfare. The constituent private College, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar has also been informed to start classes and they have also initiated the similar course of action keeping in view the future of students/budding Veterinarians. The Mineral Mixture along with other inputs of mandatory nature for animals are available in Veterinary Hospital and KVKs and Regional centres of GADVASU. For helping the poultry farmers, the poultry processing plant operational under PPP mode in university is dressing poultry birds brought by farmers.  The farmers are regularly being informed for managing their animals during this time.
