The Corona warrior scientists of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana were honoured by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU and officers of university. In an impressive function the tireless services of ten scientists , Drs Rajnish Sharma, Mudit Chandra, J S Arora, Niraj K Singh, Harsh Panwar, Omar Khaleel, Mohan Jairath, Deepali, Jaspreet Kaur and Ms Astha were applauded and they were honoured with memento and certificate of appreciation as they worked for Covid testing in diagnostic laboratories of Govt. Medical college, Patiala and Amritsar from 19th April to 3rd of July. Officers of the university also congratulated the whole team of scientists.
Dr Inderjeet Singh, appreciated the untiring efforts of these scientists in the service of the nation. While giving more details about GADVASU's contribution in the Corona crisis he revealed that GADVASU was selected by Punjab Government for establishing Covid lab .This state of art lab is near to completion and will be functional in a short span of time. Our team of scientists will give their services in this lab. It is a matter of pride and honour for our institute to share the responsibility in such testing time for the state and the nation as well, he added.
Dr JPS Gill, Director of Research informed that Testing is vital for diagnosis of Covid-19 infection & the moment the government sent instructions related to testing, GADVASU was the first one to come forward and stepped to support and strengthen medical community by offering our services in terms of both equipment and Scientists amid crisis. He informed that successful containment of this disease demands testing more and more suspected. The diagnostic tests are ticklish and could not be conducted in many of the medical laboratories operating in the Punjab state. Under such situation and emergency, besides providing two Real-Time PCR testing machines, the Veterinary varsity also deputed trained staff in conducting these diagnostic tests. GADVASU is equipped with well-established Research labs in the field of Animal Biotechnology, Virology, Cell Culture and Disease Epidemiology. GADVASU has established the diagnostic facilities and it routinely undertakes these sophisticated tests for Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries.
