Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran conducted week-long celebrations on 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi from 28.09.2020 to 02.10.2020 at its campus. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) inaugurated the week-long series of events focusing on Gandhian Philosophy on agriculture (organic farming), swachhta, women empowerment, poverty alleviation, creation of gram swaraj by involving farmers and farm women from district Tarn Taran. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon and Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch, KVK Scientists co-ordinated the above said program. On 28th September, 2020, Dr. Anil Kumar, Soil Scientist has enlightened the farmers about best agricultural practices. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon commemorated swacchta campaign on 29.09.2020 along with KVK staff and all the staff members have taken Swacchta Pledge to ensure green and plastic free surroundings. Agricultural and livestock inputs were demonstrated during a workshop on 30.09.2020 during which 14 farmers have participated and received detailed knowledge on mechanization. Farmers were motivated towards adoption of subsidiary occupations to increase their household income and showcasing of university publications and livestock inputs was carried out at book shop of KVK. At final of the week-long celebrations, 17 farmers were involved in group discussion on "Alleviate poverty through women empowerment" and Dr. Parminder Kaur, District Extension Specialist from Farm Advisory Services, Tarn Taran was felicitated by KVK, Tarn Taran for her services to farm community. The programme was summed up by motivating masses of district Tarn Taran to practice appropriate scientific techniques in their day to day routine.
