Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organized vocational training course entitled "Scientific dairy farming and value addition of dairy produce for self employment" under RKVY-12 at Village Sangwan. During this training programme, 30 individuals from schedule caste resource poor households participated. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (Training) highlighted the significance of livestock for earning livelihood by small and marginal farmers. He suggested steps to enhance the milk production of cattle and buffaloes through improved package & practices. Complete scientific information related to fodder, silage, urea treatment of straw, feeding of mineral mixture & uromin lick was explained to the trainees.
Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon discussed about the need for value addition of dairy produce. She gave live demonstrations of flavoured milk, paneer, and mango whey drink. Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch, enlightened the participants for formation of self help group. Dr. Balwinder Kumar and Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch visited individual farmers' house hold to check the health status of animals and suggested measures for better health and production. Dr. Bilawal Singh and Dr. Sikander Khan Assistant Professors, delivered lecture on livestock reproduction, animal health management and techniques to improve milk production in dairy animals. Books on dairy farming and balanced feed preparation along with literature on value added dairy products were distributed to the trainees. Livestock inputs such as area specific mineral mixture and uromin licks were distributed to the trainees. Sarpanch, Panch of village Sangwan thanked KVK, Booh for providing training to the resource poor villagers.
