NCC Team of Vet Varsity Brings Laurels

Cadets from 1 PB R&V Sqn. NCC, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana won five medals in various equestrian events in the Delhi Horse Show which was held at Army Equestrian Center Delhi Cantt.

Capt. Dr Nitin Dev Singh, Associate NCC Officer GADVASU said that The Delhi Horse show is the most prestigious and popular horse show in the country. The Army, paramilitary, police force, Private riding clubs, institutes, schools and colleges were the contingents which competed with each other in this equestrian event of highest standard. The Show featured more than 400 horses and 500 competitors of different age groups, ranging from three years old to India's best senior riders. Equestrian team of 1 PB R & V SQN NCC GADVASU participated after a gap of 25 years in this important event due to whole-hearted efforts of Officer Commanding, Col. S.K. Bhardwaj . He emphasized that as the horse riders didn’t get exposure to any equestrian event in last two years due to COVID 19. He made it sure that this event is not missed so that the riders get exposure of highest level.

Vikas Garg, a Master's student of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology GADVASU won bronze medal in cadet team tent pegging and sixth position in cadet hunter trials. Gurarshbir Singh won bronze medal in cadet team tent pegging and fourth position in cadet hunter trials. Yuvraj Singh got sixth position in cadet hacks. Cadet Makhan Verma, Manish Kumar and girl cadet Punit Kaur were also part of the team and participated in various events and gained experience.

Brigadier J.S. Ghuman, Group Commander Ludhiana Group congratulated the horse riders and the trainers of the Unit and motivated them to keep working hard. Dr. S.P.S. Ghuman, Dean COVS appreciated the students for this marvelous feat and appreciated the team.

 Dr.Inderjeet Singh Vice Chancellor praised the team and congratulated for their stupendous performance in the equestrian event of a very high repute. He said that this will also motivate the junior cadets of the Unit to work hard in this field.
