74th Republic Day Celebrations at Vet Varsity

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana celebrated the Republic day with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm at the university campus. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU, was the chief guest of the function. He extended his congratulations on 74th Republic day of the country. Dr. Singh unfurled the National Flag and highlighted the importance and spirit of the Indian Constitution for the development and prosperity of people. He praised the unity in the diversification of the country. Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students' Welfare escorted the Vice-Chancellor. The entire programme was coordinated by the Directorate of Students' Welfare and Estate office.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh said that during the last year, GADVASU signed more than 20 MoUs for the transfer of mutual professional expertise. The university obtained three patents and transferred two technologies to different institutions. With enormous efforts, the Directorate of Livestock Farms has increased the production of all livestock species by 30 to 50 percent. The Directorate of Extension Education has done remarkable work in imparting extension education through the Directorate and operational Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Three new Farmer Producer organisations have also been established in the interest of farmers’ to provide better services The College of Animal Biotechnology has prepared and presented three policy papers at the national level to control viral diseases. More than 6.5 lakh corona diagnostic tests have been done so far through the COVID diagnostic lab working at the university. Youth Festival, Alumni Meet, Hostel Nights and many other sports and cultural activities have been organized by the Directorate of Student Welfare. Many projects for building construction, campus beautification and environmental improvement have been initiated at the university which are running successfully. The registrar office conducted the convocation of the university very meticulously. Under the Institutional Development Plan, important work is being done to improve the academic infrastructure of the university and to arrange lectures of the resource persons of national and international repute. Capacity Building Resource Centre for Intensive Aquaculture Technologies like recirculatory aquaculture and biofloc was established at the college of fisheries.
College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul is also making a notable contribution to imparting veterinary education. The construction work of the Veterinary Hospital at Sappanwali Fazilka is going at a very fast pace. He said that the university has received research projects from many funding agencies which will greatly benefit our farmers. Dr. Singh also emphasized that more and more students from rural areas should come forward for the university courses, yet the number is only around 44 percent, which needs to be increased.
The Vice-Chancellor along with officers of the university honored different faculty members for their academic contributions, achievements and exemplary work to earn laurels for the university. Dr. Singh urged all the staff members and students to work hard with dedication to serve the society more enthusiastically. Students and staff members filled colors, emotions and rhythm in the function. Officers, Teachers, Employees and Students of the University attended the function devotedly.
