Volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS), NCC Cadets, faculty and staff of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University celebrated 9th International Yoga Day at the university campus. It was all about the spirit of healthy living and fitness. Volunteers performed a blend of yoga asanas including Pranayam, Surya Namaskar and different Yogic Kriyas. Brief lecture on varied subjects related to healthy lifestyle was also delivered.
It was organised by the Directorate of Students Welfare and 1 PB R&V SQN NCC of GADVASU. This year, the theme for International Yoga Day 2023 was 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' effectively encapsulating our collective aspiration for 'One Earth, One Family, and One Future.'
More than 200 volunteers and cadets participated in this international event. The participants were very enthusiastic for this event. They were sensitized about the importance of various yoga asanas. They were informed how one can lead a healthy life if they perform yoga regularly. They were told that it is not on the occasion of international yoga day only but they should perform yoga every day for leading a healthy life. As nowadays there is a lot of stress and pollution in the day to day life and environment but yoga is a stress buster. The instructors performed and demonstrated various yoga asanas which the participants followed diligently. Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor praised the volunteers and cadets for conducting this important event in such a grand manner and also praised the coordinators and organizers for helping the cadets to lead a healthy life by maintaining their physical standards.
