Dr. Nirbhay Kumar Singh took additional charge of the Comptroller, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. He has an experience of more than 23 years in research, teaching and extension. He joined the university services in May, 2003 and has served in various capacities including Professor-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana (2021-25). He also worked as visiting scientist at the USDA-ARS, Cattle Fever Tick Research Laboratory, Texas, USA (2016-17) and is Member of FAO Expert Committee on “Acaricide Resistance Management of Livestock Ticks”. Dr. Singh has published 164 research and 07 review articles in journals of national and international repute with approximately 3850 citations, h-index of 36 and i10-index of 86 (Google scholar). Apart from this, 57 extension/ popular articles, 28 technical articles in different training manuals/ compendiums/ souvenirs, 10 laboratory manuals, more than 150 GenBank accession numbers in NCBI, 76 abstracts in various conferences have also been contributed by him. He has also authored a book, delivered 20 expert lectures in various refresher/training courses and developed 04 YouTube Video tutorials on diagnosis and control measures of parasitic diseases. He has successfully handled 09 research projects as Principal Investigator and Co-PI funded by various agencies (UGC, NLM, ICAR-NICRA, DBT and RKVY) and also guided 15 Master’s and Doctoral students as Major-Advisor and Co-Advisor. Dr. Singh is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including UGC-Raman Fellowship for Post-Doctoral Research in USA (2015-16), Associateship of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2017), Dr. N. S. Ruprah Memorial Award (2018) by the Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (IAAVP), ICAR-Best teacher Award in Agricultural Higher Education (2018-19), Fellow of the National Academy of Dairy Sciences, India (2021), 25th MVC-NCVP Mid-career Excellence Award (2021) by IAAVP, Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Performance in Teaching during Academic Year 2022-23 by COVS, Ludhiana, Certificate of Appreciation by USDA and Best Oral/ Poster Presentation Awards (08) in various national conferences/symposium .
