Semen handling will impart the basics of storage of semen, semen tank management, handling semen within the tank, thawing semen and inseminating synchronized cows, besides some pointers to eliminate the cold shock to sperm. An AI Management Manual will be given to the PG diploma holders for a source of support in AI practice. The course will consist of theory and practical work with young cows. Further, the diploma will teach the most economical methods to perform embryo transfer in cattle, thereby maximizing profitability. Feeds would continue to be a major input and feed markets and safety issues would be a significant component of the livestock sector influencing the sustainability of the livestock sector. In Punjab, most of the population is depending on agriculture and animal husbandry and contributes around 13% alone in the total GDP of the state. Punjab state has more than 1000 feed manufacturers but their knowledge about feeding strategies is poor and is surviving on small and medium scale livestock farmers. With changing scenarios in the coming years it will be difficult for them to survive until and unless they either themselves get scientific knowledge or employ some technical professionals for feed mill operations.
