Dr. Prahlad Singh, born on 1st June 1966, is working as Associate Director (Training) since 10 March 2013 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran, Punjab. He joined the University services as Assistant Reproduction Physiologist in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana on 28th May 1998. Dr Singh did his BVSc & AH in 1992 from HPKV, Palampur, HP. , MVSc in 1995 from Punjab Agricultural university, Ludhiana. he did his PhD in 2000 from Punjab Agricultural University, with a Senior Research Fellowship award from CSIR, New Delhi. His field of specialization is Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics with subfield as embryo biotechnology. Dr Prahlad Singh qualified National Eligibility Test in 1995, for Lecturership/Asstt. Professorship, conducted by ASRB, ICAR, New Delhi. He was awarded deputation for International training program in Embryo Transfer Technology in Cattle, from the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Punjab Agricultural University, at Ohio State University, USA in 2006 for a period of three months. In 2012 Dr Singh was nominated for International training (NAIP) in cutting edge areas of agricultural science, transgenic animals at University of Pittsburgh, USA for a period of three months on deputation from the University. Dr Singh has attended about 10 advanced courses in his field of specialization. He has a vast experience of working as a research Scientist in the field of Embryo Transfer technology, as In-charge Semen Freezing Laboratory and as In-charge of Animal Reproduction Section of the University Dairy Farm. He has taught various Under Graduate and Post Graduate Classes in the field of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Dr Singh has carried out Clinical Hospital Services in the College Veterinary Hospital. He has been awarded, best paper presentation in canine applied subjects in the SAARC Congress by the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University in 2008. He was awarded, Dr. R.D. Sharma Award – 2001 of ISSAR (A medal and a citation) for the best scientific work in Obstetrics by a young Scientist, Outstanding Young Scientist Award-1996 of ISSAR for presentation of Scientific Paper, Dr. S.N. Luktuke Award-1996 of ISSAR (A medal and a citation), for excellent extempore presentation in Animal Reproduction. He got the best poster presentation award-2006 of NBAGR in Biotechnology at Karnal, India, and best paper presentation award-2001 of ISSAR in Biotechnology. Dr Singh has authored an Handbook-cum-Manual for Internship in Animal Reproduction as well as two course manuals. He holds membership of many professional societies. Before joining as Deputy Director, Dr Prahlad Singh worked as Physiologist in the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding, College of Veterinary Science.
