Academic Credentials

Dr Udeybir Singh Chahal had completed his B.V.Sc.&A.H. in 1996 and M.V.Sc. (Animal Nutrition) in 1998 and Ph D (Animal Nutrition) in 2006 from CCSHAU, Hisar, Haryana. He had started his academic carrier as Assistant Professor, Animal Nutrition, at NDUA&T, Faizabad, UP. He joined Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana in 2008 as Animal Scientist and promoted as Principal Scientist in 2015 and selected as Principal Scientist cum Head, Department of Animal Nutrition in 2021and worked up to March 2025 as Head of the Department. Presently he is working as Principal Scientist in the department of Animal Nutrition, GADVASU, Ludhiana.

Dr Udeybir Singh, Principal Scientist cum former Head, Department of animal Nutrition, GADVASU Ludhiana has significant contribution in the field of Animal Nutrition. He is a recipient of Excellence in Teaching award, given by Samagra Vikas Welfare Society (SVWS). He had developed PG course curriculum of Animal Nutrition and was actively engaged in undergraduate as well as Postgraduate teaching and authored 5 books for undergraduate and post graduate students and contributed 9 book chapters, besides developed 17 teaching practical manuals, 2 booklets, 5 compendiums, 8 pamphlets and 2 calendars in his credits. He was also appointed as external examiner, paper setter, supervisor, invigilator and evaluator in various examinations conducted by GADVASU as well as other Universities including ASRB, RPSC etc. He had guided 15 PG students and 1 Ph.D. student as major advisor along with advisory committee members/associated member of 40 PG/Ph.D. students.

He has been bestowed with Best Extensionist Award by Society of Animal and Veterinary Husbandry Extension Education. He has been bestowed with ANSI Best Extensionist award 2025 by Animal Nutrition Society of India and Best Extensionist Worker Award 2025 by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. He was Incharge of Farmer’s Advisory Cell and Farmer’s Information Centre at GADVASU and coordinated 57 training courses on dairy, pig, goat, poultry farming and knowledge up gradation program for the farmers of Punjab and neighbouring states and delivered more 350 expert lectures in various trainings including farmers training at campus and off campus. He had coordinated/facilitated/ attended 92 Pashu Palan/Regional Kisan Melas and 23 Animal Welfare Camps, 44 exposure visits of farmers and also delivered 6 radio talks and 30 TV talks on E-TV programme.  He had published 87 popular/ technical articles on various aspect of Animal Nutrition subject.

He published more than 104 Research Articles (Referred journals) in national and international journals of repute and published 80 Research Abstracts and 58 invited lectures/papers in various conferences/seminar/workshops etc. he has organized 30 international /national conferences/ seminar/workshop etc. and attended 58 international /national conferences/ seminar/workshop etc. He has been participated in 10 Scientist-technical officers’ interactions. He has been PI and Co-PI in many research projects sponsored by Govt. Agencies/ Industries. He developed 9 technologies and 8 products during his research. He has developed mineral mixtures for pig and Fisheries and also developed various variant of dog food especially vegetarian diet for dogs. He has also been conferred with Fellow, Animal Nutrition association. 

He has been life member of many scientific Society/ association of Animal Nutrition and related subjects. He has represented the Animal Nutrition Society of India as CEC member, Vice President (NZ), Secretary and President of this prestigious society. During these tenures, ANSI organized 3 International Conferences, regional workshop and many seminars in association with prestigious groups like CLFMA, AIDA, BCIL etc. CLFMA Managing Committee has nominated and chosen you as “CLFMA Awardee” considering your excellence of service in the field of Livestock Sector and wishes you a great success in life.

Apart from above, he participated in other curricular activities and remained member of various technical, publication, screening, counselling, inspection, sale, and purchase and mela conduct committees of the University etc.
