New undergraduate (B.F.S
c.) students admitted in College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and A
nimal Sciences University underwent a personality enhancing lifetime learning experience through participation in various activities conducted under two weeks of Student Induction Program (SIP) “Deeksharambh”. The SIP was spread over a period of one month after admission to smooth out the transition of the students into the new higher education ecosystem. The SIP aimed to empower t
he students by familiarizing them with the academic ethos, setup, culture and values of the university; and fostering them to grow cordial bonds with the senior students and faculty for developing stronger institutional connectivity and belongingness to excel in their professional journey.
During this program, students attended multidimensional activities, including orientation, interactive, mentoring, motivational and personality development sessions, as per guidelines of National Educational Policy (NEP)-2020:
Introductory cum interactive sessions with students, faculty and Dean of the
College.
Orientation session on academic system; academic rules and regulations; examination and evaluation system; co curricular activities; and extracurricular activities.
Integrating tour to different departments, labs and experiential learning units at the instructional cum research farm of the college.
Orientation visits to constituent colleges, common facilities and administrative set up of the university.
Awareness sessions on University website; Student advisory system; student discipline and conduct; Anti-ragging Act and UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in HEIs; Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal) Act -2013 and Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) for protecting women from sexual harassment in the university
campus; Equal Opportunity Center (EOC); Student Grievances Redressal; and student welfare programs/schemes.
Motivational professional talks with college alumni placed in different professional domains in India and abroad.
Placement and career counselling session addressing professional queries.
Confidence and social bonding through visit to regional cultural heritage, cultural exchange, sports and NSS activities.
Participation in thought provoking events involving poster making and essay writing on current issues of socio-economic importance and higher education system.
Personality boosting sessions on communication skills, mindfulness and stress management.
