
The Centre for One Health, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, conducted a two-day workshop on “Research Design and Scientific Article Writing”. A total of 21 postgraduate students from various departments participated enthusiastically in this intensive capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening research quality and scientific writing skills among young scholars.
The workshop commenced with opening remarks by Dr. J.S. Bedi, Director, Centre for One Health, who highlighted the growing need for robust research design, evidence-based approaches, and high-quality scientific communication in the veterinary and One Health domains.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, commended the Centre for One Health for organising such capacity-building initiatives and motivated students to pursue high-quality, impactful scientific research aligned with emerging national and global priorities.
Dr. S.S. Randhawa, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, interacted with the participants and appreciated the initiative, noting that such hands-on training equips postgraduate students with practical skills needed to excel in academics and research careers. .jpg)
Dr. Pankaj Dhaka, Centre for One Health, conducted detailed hands-on sessions covering formulation of research questions, sampling strategies, and sample-size estimation. Dr. Simranpreet Kaur and Dr. Randhir Singh, guided participants on understanding research article frameworks, selecting appropriate journals, and aligning manuscripts with editorial expectations. Dr. Deepthi Vijay engaged students through practical exercises on identifying and applying suitable study designs. Dr. Deepali Kalambhe, introduced participants to the effective and responsible use of AI tools for literature review, and enhancing writing quality.
Dr. B.B. Singh, provided valuable insights into the finer details of drafting a scientific article, while Dr. Rajnish Sharma conducted a hands-on session on abstract preparation and refinement.
Dr. S.K. Uppal, Dean Postgraduate Studies, appreciated the workshop’s practical orientation and encouraged students to strengthen their methodological skills to enhance the quality of their thesis and research outputs.
