Vet Varsity Hosts Insightful Cyber Safety Sensitisation Programme

The NSS Unit of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in collaboration with Act Humane Society, organised an impactful Cyber Safety Sensitization Programme for faculty members and students to promote awareness about the growing challenges of cybercrime and digital security.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor emphasized that cyber safety has become the need of the hour in today’s digital era. He observed that even highly educated individuals have fallen prey to cyber frauds, underlining the importance of awareness, vigilance and responsible online behaviour.
Dr. R. S. Aulakh, Director Students' Welfare highlighted the commendable initiatives undertaken by Act Humane Society in diverse areas including disability support, environmental protection, career counselling, medical assistance for the needy and cancer awareness campaigns.
The keynote resource person, Sh. Tarun Malhotra, Founder & CEO, Cyber Splunk & Cyber Academy delivered an engaging and informative session on cyber awareness and digital confidence. He elaborated on the increasing threats posed by cyber frauds and guided participants on effective measures to enhance data protection and online safety. Sharing practical and easy-to-follow tips, he explained how to identify phishing attempts, create secure passwords and safeguard personal information from cybercriminals.
Ms. Harleen Kaur, Founder, Act Humane Society also shared the vision and community welfare initiatives of the society aimed at creating a more compassionate and socially responsible environment
Dr. Nidhi Sharma informed that the NSS volunteers greatly benefited from the practical insights and preventive strategies discussed during the programme.
Dr. Varinder Uppal, Director, Human Resource Management Centre, delivered a vote of thanks.
Appreciating the initiative, Dr. R. S. Sethi described the session as highly informative, relevant and enlightening.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Rajesh Kasrija, Dr. C. Mukhopadhyay, Dr. Narender Kumar, Dr. Vishal Sharma and Dr. S. S. Hassan, the NSS Programme Officers from various colleges of the university.
