Postgraduate Admission Rules for Ph.D Programmes

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D Programmes

The minimum eligibility qualification for admission to Ph.D. programmes of the university shall be an OCPA of 7.00/10.00 or 70% marks in aggregate in the Master’s degree and OCPA/OGPA of 6.00/10.00 or 60% marks in aggregate in Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute/college/university established by law in India. The eligible Master’s and Bachelor’s degree for admission to specific Ph.D. programme are as shown against respective discipline in the table below.

Note: Students may have to clear deficiency courses as suggested by the student's advisory committee.

Ph.D. Programme for in-service candidates

• The minimum eligibility qualification for admission  to Ph.D. programmes of the university for in-service  candidates shall be the same as in case of other than inservice candidates mentioned at above (Sr. No. 8.3.1). Candidate must be an employee of a University/ National Institute/Punjab Government/Union Territory  of Chandigarh/Central or State Government/Semi-Government organizations having at least two years of experience of Teaching/Research/Extension.

Note:

(i) The in-service candidate will be considered for  admission only if his/her application is duly forwarded  through proper channel by the Head/sanctioning  authority after certifying that during the study period  his/her lien will be retained and on completion of  studies, the candidate will join back on the said post.

(ii) The preference for admission under in-service  category will be given to the candidates working with  Punjab Government/ Semi-Government organizations of Punjab followed by other state candidates on case-to-case basis.
