The department has well equipped UG and PG laboratories, library cum network room, conference room with modern multimedia facilities, reproductive biology lab, radioimmunoassay lab, swine reproduction lab, phantom hall, Palpation room and Cow simulators for AI practice for demonstration to students. The clinical facilities of the department include large and small animal obstetrics unit, large animal detorsion area, large and small animal ultrasonography units including Doppler imaging, endoscopic guided artificial insemination unit for canines, whelping and neonatal caring unit and well-established state of art operation theatre with modern equipments. The departmental faculty is involved in teaching animal reproduction, gynaecology and obstetrics to undergraduate & postgraduate students besides conducting research on reproductive problems faced by the livestock farmers, and on innovative ideas to enhance reproductive efficiency in the farm and pet animals.  The scientists have standardized various advanced specialized procedures for diagnosis and confirmation of various reproductive disorders. The outstanding outputs of the research are being extended to the livestock farmers through various extension trainings and programmes. Most of the faculty members have research experience in the developed countries either at doctorate or post-doctoral level. Faculty of this department has won many prestigious national and international awards in different areas of research.

The department has been designated as ‘Centre of Advanced Studies/Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Gynaecology & Reproduction’ since 1995 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi under which the advanced training is imparted to the faculties/Scientists from various State Agricultural Universities (SAU’s), State Veterinary Universities (SVU’s) and ICAR institutes to enhance their professional capabilities. Under advanced faculty training the department has conducted 30 trainings and trained approximately 364 scientists till date.

The departmental faculty is also engaged in scientific pursuits such as organizing Model training courses, short national and international trainings covering various aspects of animal reproduction, and holding national symposia and workshops. Several renowned national and foreign scientists in the field of animal reproduction and endocrinology have visited the department and trained the faculty. A total of 213 postgraduate students (179 M.V.Sc. and 34 Ph.D.) have completed their degree in this department.
