Brief Introduction

Dr. Ram Saran Sethi, is currently serving as the Additional Director of Research at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, and has held the additional charge of Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology since May 2025. With 27 years of extensive experience in teaching, research, and extension, he is also the founding Head of the Department of Animal Biotechnology at GADVASU. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dr. Sethi is actively engaged in multiple international collaborations. He has served as a Visiting Fellow at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok and as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Saskatchewan. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the World Veterinary Association’s (WVA) project on Global Quality Standards for Veterinary Education and an Ad Hoc Member of WVA’s One Health Working Group. His professional excellence is further recognized through fellowships in the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, Society for Immunology and Immunopathology, Indian Society of Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology, and the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists.
His research interests include airway hyper-responsiveness and lung inflammation due to environmental pollutants, as well as single-cell transcriptomic and proteomic profiling of immune cells during host-pathogen interactions. He has contributed to 13 funded research projects and currently serves as Project Coordinator for the NSERC-funded "Genome Editing for Food Security and Environmental Sustainability (GEFSES)" project, in collaboration with McGill University and the University of Calgary, Canada. He is also a Co-Investigator on a WOAH-funded veterinary twinning program between GADVASU and the University of Calgary.
Dr. Sethi was instrumental in securing ?5.0 crores from DST-NIDHI to establish Punjab’s first Inclusive Technology Business Incubator (i-TBI) for Dairy Innovation at GADVASU. This landmark initiative significantly boosts innovation and startup incubation in the livestock sector, while strengthening the university’s research, development, and entrepreneurial ecosystem. He played a vital role in setting up the COVID-19 testing facility at GADVASU, which was later recognized as a high-throughput lab by UNICEF. An accomplished academician, he has authored one book and published over 130 research articles and reviews. His contributions have been acknowledged with 30 best paper/poster.
