The department of Veterinary Parasitology came into existence in the years 1975. Dr. S.C. Dutt a renowned Parasitologist was the founder Head of this Department. Department imparts teaching, research and extension activities in the disciplines of Helminthology, Protozoology and Entomology. The department offers diagnostic services to livestock owners, farmers and veterinarians related to parasitic diseases by examination of blood, faecal, skin scraping and examination of different excretion and secretions. Adequate facilities are available in the department for the award of B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Veterinary Parasitology. Malacology laboratory is an unique addition to the department laboratories and maintains the infection free snails throughout the year.
Liaison with state Department:
The department is actively involved in the activity pertaining to training to veterinary officers, workshops and personnel from polyclinics for training in diagnosis of parasitic diseases of domestic animals.
