The Department of Bioinformatics mainly concerns with computational biology and bioinformatics applied in the areas of animal genomics and transcriptomics. The systems biology with functional and evolutionary relationships are of prime concern in the department.

Thrust Areas

• To undertake teaching, research, and training in bioinformatics specialized domains.
• To advance the interdisciplinary goal-oriented research and innovations of bioinformatics, such as computational & systems biology; chemoinformatics & simulations, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence.
• To generate scientific expertise and trained human resources to cater to industrial and research and development requirements of the state and the country.
• To develop infrastructure for the big-data analysis on animal science and one health.
• Utilization of multi-omics technologies for the improvement of farm animals.
• To explore alternatives to antibiotics and find a novel way of treating animal diseases using regenerative medicine.

• Artificial intelligence-driven technology development for stakeholders (students, teachers, research fraternity, and farmers).
• Development, applications, and integration of Multi-omics driven research for livestock and poultry  
• Develop  regenerative therapeutic support for livestock farmers and pet owner.
