Teaching and Other Appointments

  • Teaching UG/PG students about the concept of Animal Breeding and biostatistics. Teaching goals are departmental and college level involving teaching of biostatistics to fishery professionals and post graduate and undergraduate level course to Veterinary professionals also. The basic theme is genetic improvement of species .The goal seems to be accomplished when a student learns to devise an experiment with respect to the objectives , followed by interpretations. The process of teaching has been diversified to multiple tasks with varied objectives. My interests as a teacher is not to restrain myself to my subject of cattle breeding alone but to orient the students with problems specific to their discipline. Encouraging students to mimic problems that are routinely being faced according to their own discipline. Second aim is to teach very practical, simple and systematic objectives that derives meaningful output. Sensitization of students to utilize e-resources to execute, analyse and interpret data as per their subject

Area of Research Interests

  • Breeding strategies that show minimal role of climatic / metrological / heat shock proteins. The study aims to incorporate the role of non-genetic factors and give them due weightage in any selection programmes. As a matter of fact a project was submitted to study the association of HSP genes polymorphism with milk composition, physiological and production parameters in Murrah and Nile-Ravi buffaloes in July 2021.



Research Honour’s /Awards

  • Conferred oral presentation award to Gurpreet kour, Raman Narang and Neeraj Kashyap on the topic "Estimates of Genetic and Phenotypic trends in early performance traits in Murrah Buffaloes." It was presented at International conference on Agriculture & biological Sciences 2020 by virtual mode during 18th-19th December 2020.
