Ultrasonography of canine abdomen and ultrasonography of bovine fore-stomach including ultarsonographic diagnosis of diaphragmatic hernia and omasal impaction in bovines were first reported kind from this department. Most of the faculty members of this department have acquired training from abroad and have won many prestigious national and international awards and fellowships in respective areas of research. Under the Centre of Advanced Faculty Training program, the department has conducted 32 training and trained more than 479 scientists/teachers working in SVU's, SAU's / ICAR institutes. The department has completed several extramural projects funded by ICAR, UGC, DST, FIST and RKVY. In 2014, the department was awarded an ICAR Sponsored All India Network Program on "Diagnostic Imaging and management of Surgical Conditions in Animals" which is running successfully. Besides, at present, the department is handling 3 more extramural projects funded DBT and SERB-DST agencies.
