The Department of Livestock Products Technology is one of the mandatory departments recommended by the Veterinary Council of India. It was established in 2003, however it started functioning independently w.e.f. January 06, 2004 with the joining of faculty members. Presently, department is one of the premier department with the state-of-art facilities in processing, packaging and quality assurance of livestock products.
Within a very short span of time, the Department has strengthened facilities for teaching of Postgraduate and PhD students, training to the farmers, entrepreneurs, development and transfer of technologies and various research workers in the field of Livestock Products Technology. Presently the Department has FOURTEEN projects funded by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, ICAR, UGC, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Punjab State Govt., Livestock Development Board, Punjab and the University. One revolving fund is also running to popularize and sale of various livestock products with an object for income generation.
