Brief Introduction :

 Dr. Mandeep Singh Bal joined as Principal Scientist cum In-Charge animal Disease Research Centre on 03.12.2021. Dr. Bal Joined university service in 2002 as Assistant Scientist.  Dr. Bal has 20 years of academic and research experience. He also acquired advanced training in the field of molecular epidemiology of parasitic diseases from Western college of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canada (April to October 2012). Dr. Bal successfully completed 3 research projects as Principal Investigator and 5 as Co-investigator funded by various National Agencies viz, Department of Biotechnology, Indian Council of Medical Research, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Science (CCRAS), National Medicinal Plant Board (NMPB), Ministry of Ayush, Govt. Of India. Presently, Dr. M. S. Bal is associated with 4 research projects (One as PI & 3 as Co-investigator). He has successfully guided 6 M. V. Sc. Students.  

Dr. M. S. Bal has published 89 research articles in various national and International Journals, 45 extension articles in various extension Journals/newspapers. Dr. Bal delivered 75 lectures in various extension activities organized by university/Punjab/Central Government for benefit of animal owners of Punjab and adjoining states. Dr. Bal investigated 225 animal disease outbreaks (parasitic, bacterial, viral, fungal, toxicities, deficiencies etc.) in Punjab and adjoining states. Dr. M. S. Bal also authored one Book “Colour Atlas and Diagnostic Guide of Farm Animal Diseases” (University publication ISBN: 978-93-87403-40-6) for benefit of veterinary clinicians, veterinary students and field veterinarians. Atlas contain coloured pictures of clinical findings, laboratory diagnosis & postmortem signs of common diseases of domesticated animals in the region. 

Dr. M. S. Bal is recipient of ‘International Travel Grant’ from Department of Science & Technology, Government of India for presenting his research work in 24th International Conference of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP)  held at Perth, Australia from 25.8.2013 to 29.8.2013. Dr. Bal also invited by Western Canada Parasitology Association to present his research findings in Third Western Canada Veterinary Parasitology Retreat (June 17th – 19th 2012) at Canmore, Alberta, Canada.  Dr. M. S. Bal is also presented ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ by Alumni Association College of Veterinary Science during Golden Jubilee Celebration function of COVS, Ludhiana on 29.12.2020. Dr. Bal is recipient of Best Oral presentation, best poster presentation awards for presentation of his research work in various scientific conferences. Dr. Bal also worked as Hostel warden and landscaping In-Charge of university. He was presented ‘Award of Honour’ by Directorate of Student’s welfare, GADVAU during republic day function (26th January 2016) of University for dedicated work as In-Charge Landscaping, GADVASU, Ludhiana.
