The Department of Microbial and Environmental Biotechnology focuses mainly on teaching, research and extension in various facets of Microbiology and Immunology. The department has well qualified faculty having higher qualifications or specialized training abroad or at premier institutes of the country. Currently, 1 Professor and, 3 Scientist/Assistant Professors, are working in the department. Around 200+ research articles have been published by the faculty in various national and international journals of repute. Several extramural projects funded by various national and international agencies have been successfully completed by various faculty members. The mandate of the department is to develop new tools and application of available methods for diagnosis, prophylaxis and control of infectious diseases of domestic animals and poultry. The current research interest of the department is directed towards the development of immunodiagnostics, pen-side diagnostics, and new generation vaccines against Tumour, bacterial and viral diseases of livestock, poultry and companion animals.
