Brief Introduction :

Dr Manish Kumar Chatli, Professor-cum-Head completed his B.V.Sc. & A.H. (1994) and M.V.Sc. (1996) from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. He is a recipient of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Senior Research Fellowship for PhD programme. He has more than 16 year experience in industry, teaching, research and extension in the area of Livestock Products Technology. He worked as Dairy Manager Bombay and Assistant Professor at CSK HPKV, Palampur. He has joined PAU as Associate Professor in 2003 and subsequently promoted to Professor in 2009 and Head position in 2012. He is a life member of 11 different professional societies including American Meat Science Association. He has published more than 75 original research papers, 6 manuals, 3 book chapters, 3 research reports and edited 3 compendiums. He is a co-author in Three text books ‘Practical Handbook on Meat Science & Technology’ ‘Abattoir Practices and Animal Byproducts Technology’ and Meat Science. He has published 2 booklets in Punjabi and 75 technical articles for the benefit of the farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs. He is on the editorial board and referee to various International and National Journals of repute. He has delivered more than 200 lecture-cum-practical demonstrations and 34 invited lectures at different trainings, workshops and seminars. He has delivered 16 radio talks and 20 TV talks on various issues related with livestock products. He was visiting scientist to University of Kentucky, Lexington, USA. He has attended 34 National and 11 international conferences in India, USA, Republic of South Korea and published more than 100 abstracts. He has handled many research projects as Principal Investigator and co-principal investigator funded by NATP, RKVY and Ministry of Food Processing and Industries, Govt of India. He acted as question paper setter and moderator to ASRB, NET/SRF examination. He is regular question paper setter and evaluator to graduate and post graduate and doctorate students of more than 21 different veterinary colleges, ICAR institutes of India. His major research contribution is in the area of value added poultry and meat products, functional milk and meat products, hurdle technology based meat products, extended shelf life milk and meat products using natural antioxidants, edible bioactive packaging, vacuum packaging and modified atmosphere packaging.
